Purchasing Group
The Purchasing Group is comprised of lead purchasing professionals from the FEC Member companies across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. The group includes veteran buyers as well as new comers with a goal of improving each company’s procurement, maximizing value and our bottom lines.
Combined, we have the largest buying power in the marketplace for electrical commodities and package procurement with buying power of over 5 billion dollars. We are able to leverage this to earn service incentives across the network that we individually may not be able to. We share best practices including forms, vendor services, and processes for the betterment of our individual workplaces. We can provide out of district price checks, fulfill emergency orders from local stock, and share vendor feedback with each other confidentially.
Our goal is to serve our internal and external customers to perfection. The support we offer each other is invaluable and has proven success.

An annual CFO Roundtable in conjunction with the annual financial meeting allows for collaboration amongst the CFOs, providing a forum to discuss relevant and timely topics.
Virtual Design Group
Using the latest in collaborative technologies, FEC is a leader in design and construction efficiency. Whether during the earliest stages of design or while mitigating the difficulties of construction, our Virtual Design and Construction team partners with other trade partners, the design team, and ownership. In doing so, we ensure that our planned installations are provided in the safest and most efficient means possible. This also simplifies the operations of the building long after our initial construction efforts are complete. The cornerstone of this process is Virtual Design and Construction (VDC).
Our VDC services provide our construction teams an unparalleled level of clarity and transparency into the intent of the final construction product, long before the first shovel hits the dirt. Our process begins with the right personnel for the task, ranging from Lead Designers and MEP Coordinators to Professional Engineers and seasoned Chief Estimators with decades of experience. Those professionals are then given the finest computers, software, and testing equipment available to convert a theoretical idea of a project into a dynamic virtual realization of the building. These tools feed seamlessly into our prefabrication and scheduling efforts. This clean transition into construction processes provide tremendous improvements in our overall quality, job-site safety, and expedience in project delivery.
Once in construction, our field supervisory team optimizes the flow of information and shared construction knowledge through the use of digital plan rooms, smart boxes, foreman iPads, and live-time construction scheduling that encompasses all aspects of our operation. Aside from maintaining the overall project schedule, these tools allow our entire construction team, whether virtual or physical, to communicate their inter-dependencies, schedule deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, and promote prefabricated installations for our projects.
